Anand's political career gained momentum quickly. In June 2019, he was appointed as the BSP's national coordinator during a party executive meeting. Several media reports suggest that Mayawati has been grooming Anand for a significant role in the party's future. This sentiment was echoed during her 66th birthday celebration on January 15, 2022, where she hinted at a "bigger role" for him, as reported by the Hindustan Times.

As Anand's influence grew, so did his responsibilities. Livemint reports that he took charge of managing the party's social media presence during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections campaign.
