The highly anticipated Kamla Haasan and Mani Ratnam starrer ‘Thug Life’ hit the theatres today, June 5, 2025. This marks the filmmaker Ratnam and legendary actor Haasan’s reunion thirty-eight years after their last crime epic, Nayakan. With fans having high expectations from the crime thriller, let us see what the advance booking status suggests for the film. As per reports, the Ratnam directorial wrapped up its advance booking for the opening day on a solid note. The buzz for the crime drama movie is now stronger than ever from both Ratnam and Haasan’s fans. By 6 am on May 6, 2025, the opening day, the film registered over 3.5 lakh pre-sales for the first day across all languages (except Kannada), grossing Rs 6.16 crore (without block seats). As per the Sacnilk report, the number of block seats stands at Rs 13.89 crore. This in addition to the first reviews suggests a positive start for ‘Thug Life’.

Thug Life Box Office Collection Day 1 Prediction

Currently, the opening box office collection of ‘Thug Life’ according to the Sacnilk report is Rs 3.85 crore. Trade expert Ramesh Bala, while speaking to India Today, predicted that Thug Life is expected to earn Rs 40 to Rs 50 crore in India, with Rs 75 crore worldwide. "There is an expectation that it will have the 'Nayakan' magic. Hopefully, if everything comes together, then 'Thug Life' will soar higher," he said. Sreedhar Pillai, another trade expert, predicted a total of Rs 20-25 crore earnings from the Tamil Nadu market alone.

With this, the film is expected to surpass the opening day figures of Haasan’s previous releases. Apart from Haasan, the film also stars Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, and Aishwarya Lekshmi in important roles.
