South Indian film adaptations continue to captivate audiences as they flock back to cinemas to experience extravagant Bollywood productions. However, within this trend lies a group of Hindi remakes of South Indian movies that failed to retain the essence of the original plot, leading to a decline in the popularity of the actors involved. Sadly, producers who invested heavily in these projects ultimately suffered significant losses. While a few remakes successfully capture the enchantment of their source material, here are five recent bollywood adaptations that faced resounding failure at the box office.
South Remakes That Disappointed Bollywood Audiences

Following the success of the Telugu movie remake ‘Kabir Singh,’ Shahid Kapoor has once again opted for another Telugu film adaptation. This time, alongside Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor takes on the role of a retired cricketer who re enters the sport to fulfill his son's dream of acquiring a cricket jersey. Following a highly anticipated role in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyya 2,’ Kartik Aaryan's next film was already being hailed as a triumph even before its release. Titled ‘Shehzada,’ a remake of Allu Arjun's ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo,’ it unfortunately turned out to be a major disappointment.
