Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes recently announced the casting of his upcoming much-awaited series based on four separate biopics on The Beatles. The cast includes Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney), Joseph Quinn (John Lennon), Harris Dickinson (Ringo Starr), and Barry Keoghan (George Harrison) stepping into the shoes of the Fab Four, and expectations are sky-high.
Sam Mendes has confirmed that the film is scheduled for release in April 2028 and has already been approved by Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and the families of George Harrison and John Lennon.
Beyond the world-famous music, the band also had its share of drama and heartbreak. As fans wait with bated breath, we take a look at iconic moments from The Beatles’ journey that we hope the series will bring to the big screen.
Individual Perspectives of the Fab Four
Since each film will focus on a different member of the band, this will hopefully be a good way of discovering their individual personalities and perspectives.
The band had its more loved or famous members, but each of them contributed greatly to their overall success.

We want to see McCartney’s relentless ambition, Lennon’s internal struggles, Harrison’s spiritual journey, and Starr’s quiet but crucial role in keeping the band together.
The Lennon-McCartney Songwriting Magic
It would be good to witness the making of their most loved albums, with Lennon and McCartney's songwriting magic.
Behind the scenes of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The White Album, or Abbey Road would mean a rediscovery of The Beatles' music while shedding light on their internal camaraderie.
Their sound also evolved over time, with influences from different parts of the world, including India.
Rise of Beatlemania
From their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show to their whirlwind tours, the sheer hysteria of Beatlemania changed music history forever.
They’d become huge across the globe. The series will hopefully explore the frenzy that surrounded them.
In 1966, John Lennon sparked controversy by claiming that The Beatles were "more popular than Jesus."
Shortly after, during their tour of Japan, the Philippines, and the U.S., the band faced intense backlash, including mob uprisings, violence, political outrage, and even death threats.

Frustrated by the constraints of Beatlemania and the inability to hear themselves perform over the deafening screams of their fans, The Beatles decided to stop touring and focus exclusively on studio recordings.
The India Connect: Spiritual & Musical Awakening
One of the most intriguing chapters in The Beatles’ journey was their visit to India in 1968, where they visited the Rishikesh ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Even today, the Ashram is popularly known as The Beatles ashram, and has halls dedicated to photos from the time of their visit and graffiti portraits in abandoned buildings.
The period in India not only influenced their personal lives but also had a profound impact on their music. Indian fans would surely love to see the group’s interactions with Indian culture, their experiences with transcendental meditation.
Their India stint was also mired by allegations of sexual harassment against the Maharishi and ended with a much-publicised split with him and a sense of betrayal some members of the band felt afterwards.
We’d love to see how these elements from their India experience shaped songs from The White Album, such as "Dear Prudence" and "Sexy Sadie."
The Beatles Split
The end of The Beatles was messy and painful. It’s attributed to many factors, one of the most prominent being their enthusiasm for pursuing individual careers.
We’d like to see how their lives shaped around music and personal realms after the band officially split up.
From a Director of the stature of Sam Mendes, we expect more than a re-telling of a story fans are already aware of. We expect depth and nuance, and maybe even previously not-very-well-known snippets from The Beatles’ story.
