However, not all reviews were positive. User Vivek Mishra commented: “#MaalikReview: Only worth watching for Rajkummar Rao’s strong screen presence. The rest is a slow, outdated gangster flick with shaky direction. Rao deserved a better script. Likely to open with low collections, around ₹1.5–2 crore.”
