The heist comedy movie Gangers starring Vadivelu and Sundar C in key roles released on April 24, 2025. While the film received mixed reviews from the critics, the audience gave a positive response. However, despite all the buzz around the movie, it was not able to perform well at the box office on day 1. The numbers were quite disappointing given the popularity of Sundar C. Now the hopes of the film performing well depends on the weekend collection.

According to the Sacnilk report, the film earned only Rs 58 lakh in the opening day collection. The comedy film saw a Tamil occupancy rate of 13.62% across the day. While Chennai stood at the top of the list with an 18.50% overall occupancy, peaking at 23% during the night shows, Madurai followed with a 16% overall occupancy. Coimbatore and Bengaluru recorded the lowest occupancy of 12.5% and 7.25% respectively.

About Gangers
The film is about an undercover cop who poses as a PT teacher at a school. The Tamil film features Sundar C as Saravanan IPS, Vadivelu as Singaram, Catherine Tresa as Sujitha and Mime Gopi as Malayarasan in important roles. Other stars including Vani Bhojan, Bagavathi Perumal, Hareesh Peradi, Munishkanth, Redin Kingsley, Deepa Shankar and Ilavarasu appear in supporting roles. TOI’s review with a 2.5-star rating read, “Thankfully, things improve in the second half and we get to see some comedy that even if it does not make us laugh out loud (like the stretch involving Manobala in the director’s recent Madha Gaja Raja) makes us break into a smile. Vadivelu, who still seems to be finding his form, gives us a glimpse of the comic force that he once was, and Sundar C, too, comes up with moments that come close to the madcap comic energy that we see in his best works.”
