The new action thriller ‘Dacoit’, starring Mrunal Thakur and Adivi Sesh, will hit the theatres soon. On May 26, 2025, the film’s first look was unveiled, marking Shaneil Deo’s directorial debut. The film features three main characters: Mrunal, Sesh, and Anurag Kashyap.

Dacoit Fire Glimpse Out

The promo of Dacoid begins with suspenseful music followed by the male lead, Sesh’s voiceover, “Hey, Juliet. What happened to you isn’t a trivial thing. Everybody betrayed you. But I am not here to betray you. No. I am here to destroy you.” Mrunal and Sesh can be seen as the elusive criminals in the movie. The promo then shows a high-speed train ramming through a police vehicle. Sharing the first look on her Instagram account, Mrunal wrote, “A reunion with ex. Bittersweet? No. Catastrophic? Hell, yeah! #DACOIT IN CINEMAS WORLDWIDE ON DECEMBER 25th.”

The film is set to hit the theatres on December 25, 2025, coinciding with the Christmas holiday.

Mrunal Thakur Replaces Shruti Haasan In Dacoit, Here’s Why

Interestingly, Shruti Haasanwas the first choice for the film, with a trailer already in place. However, as per the latest reports, Mrunal stepped in, replacing the ‘Salaar’ actress who exited the project due to some creative differences with the makers.

Speaking about the role, Mrunal said to the media, “Dacoit’s story is true and beautifully blends rustic storytelling with the stylised vision of both Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo. The character I will portray allows me to explore dimensions I haven’t delved into before as an actor. This unique blend of genre and narrative makes Dacoit an exciting project for audiences. I can’t wait to immerse myself in Shaneil’s envisioned world.”

The Dacoit team later released all-new posters featuring Sesh and Mrunal to announce the news.
