Shanaya Kapoor has officially entered Bollywood with her debut film ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’. The daughter of Maheep Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor follows her cousins Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, into the film industry. Her romantic drama hit theatres today, sparking immediate reactions across social media platforms.

The film adapts Ruskin Bond's short story ‘The Eyes Have It’ for the big screen. Shanaya plays a theatre artist with a blindfold, while Vikrant Massey portrays a visually impaired musician. Director Santosh Singh helms this emotional love story set against beautiful backdrops.

Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Twitter Review

Early Twitter reactions have described the film as a mixed bag. One user, @maadalaadlahere (Suryakant Dholakhandi), called the film “a decent affair,” giving it 3 out of 5 stars.

“#AankhonKiGustaakhiyan is a fresh warmth of love which is visually beautiful. Cinematography is the USP of the film. #VikrantMassey has done a great job as always,” they wrote.

On Shanaya Kapoor, the user added, “According to her first film, she does well. A lot to learn and I believe she will improve. Honestly, great.”

However, the same post pointed out that the storyline was “okayish”—neither bad nor exceptional.

Not all viewers shared the same optimism. Film analyst Umair Sandhu was especially scathing, calling the movie “boring” and giving it just 1 star out of 5.

Another widely circulated reaction praised the film’s cinematography and emotional tone, while also acknowledging its flaws. The review noted, “Vikrant Massey की performance दिल छू जाती है... लेकिन screenplay थोड़ा predictable है और कुछ scenes unnecessarily dragged लगते हैं.(Rating: 3.5/5)"

This review highlighted Vikrant Massey’s emotional depth, beautiful visuals, and soulful music, while pointing out weak pacing and a predictable second half. The verdict: "देख सकते हो Vikrant Massey के performance के लिए, लेकिन उम्मीद बहुत ज़्यादा ना रखें."

According to Navneet Mundhra, the film may struggle to connect with its target audience. He wrote on Twitter, “Despite decent music, there is simply NO excitement about #AankhonKiGustaakhiyan among the people. Even its target audiences—the youngsters—are unaware about its release date.”

Mundhra added that the film may not even cross Rs 5 crore on its opening day, warning that both Shanaya and Vikrant Massey “will suffer a setback.”

Not everyone is dismissing the film. Twitter user @iamkuldeep23, who attended a censor screening, praised ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’ for its emotional depth and acting performances.

“This film touched not just my heart but my soul... Shanaya Kapoor’s screen presence is impressive — easily one of the best debut performances in recent years. Vikrant Massey once again proves he’s a powerhouse of talent.”

He rated the film 4.5 out of 5, calling it a “soulful love story” and “a complete value-for-money cinematic experience.”
