Imagine walking into your favorite ice cream parlor for one scoop and walking out with a second one! Thanks to the BOGO offer, you get to relish both you had your eye on. Remember that jolt of joy, burst of bliss, that heaven-on-earth feeling? That’s exactly how you feel when you get to watch a surprise cameo when you least expect it. Whether it’s a character that twisted the whole plot or maybe one who ignited a love angle, Bollywood has treated us with a host of guest appearances. Some made us their fans in a jiffy, while others were etched in our hearts forever.
Shivangi Sharma, Chief Entertainment Officer, Excitel, picked up 5 best scene-stealing cameos in Bollywood that stole the spotlight from the protagonist.
1.SRK in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) l Amazon Prime
One-sided love never felt this powerful until SRK said“It’s the most beautiful feeling in the world”.Essaying the character ofTahir,an artist, he brought to the screen a subtle breeze of love and longingness. When he meets his past loveSaba(Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and talks about how love endures forever, his cameo actually becomes a life lesson for us. The chemistry betweenTahir, Saba and Ayan(Ranbir Kapoor) in a way narrates the heart of this film and tells us how love should be seen with a subjective lens.

2.Irrfan in Haider (2014) l Zee5
Cameos should always come with a hint of intrigue. Who’s this character? What is his purpose?Roohdar(played brilliantly by Irrfan) inHaideris one such special appearance. The entry shot starts off with a blurry frame against the Kashmir valley, symbolizing the vagueness of the character. Yet, it becomes the anchor that helps both Haider (Shahid) and the film sail through. Playing an off-beat character, he establishes the connection between Haider, his father, and the politics of Kashmir. A mere 10-minute presence of Irrfan blends mysticism with mastery to shine through this cameo.
3.Salman Khan in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) l Amazon Prime
If green forest had a character, it was Aman from this classic. Whistles echoed and coins flew when Salman khan made his entry right on the big screen. (FYI, back in 1998 there was no social media, and the cameos were literally surprise packages). Adding a dash of charm and charisma, he played the role of Kajol's love interest. From the iconic dance moves to the basketball face-off and the heavy-hearted ending scene, Aman left us wishing for a spin-off on him.
4.Salman Khan in Pathaan (2023) l Amazon Prime
If one scene defines an adrenaline rush, it’s the moment where Tiger’s iconic scarf is furled in the middle of a high-octane combat scene. It wasn’t just about Pathaan (SRK) and Tiger taking down the enemy; it was also a burst of bromance. Bullets flying everywhere, trains wrecking and hard-hitting witty dialogues, it was a pure cinematic moment for the fans of Tiger. Towards the end Tiger says“Bachchon pe yeh sab nahi chhod sakte”,and that symbolizes the reigning legacy of Tiger and Salman as the action hero of Bollywood.

5.Akshay Kumar in Om Shanti Om (2007) l YouTube
Khiladi is known for his eccentric action moves. Yet, with this cameo Akshay shocked his fans. Imagine blowing the bodies of his enemy army with a pistol strapped on his pelvis. As impossible as it sounds, it was done with ease by Akshay. Playing the character of a star in the film, he brought a dose of high-voltage action. What a sweet balance between comic jibes and solid punches!
