Madhusmita Jena Running A Marathon Wearing A Saree
Hailing from Odisha, India, Madhusmita Jena is a high-school teacher in Manchester and reportedly completed the run of 42.5km in four hours and 50 minutes wearing a Sambalpuri handloom saree.
Jena has been garnering applause around the globe. While many people are praising her, others are questioning if a saree can be a practical choice for running a marathon.
Friends of India Soc Intl UK Twitter account posted her video with the caption, “Madhusmita Jena, an Indian living in Manchester, UK, comfortably runs Manchester Marathon 2023 in a lovely Sambalpuri saree, while proudly showcasing her Indian heritage.
