Fashion designer Ritu Beri has always been known for her creativity, tremendous confidence and ability to take risks. Ritu Beri, who has gained the distinction of becoming the first Asian designer to lead the French fashion brand Jean‑Louis Scherrer, has always surpassed the expectations of the people. In the year 2016, she was made Khadi's brand ambassador in view of her capabilities. At the time when Prime Minister Modi spoke about promoting Khadi, fashion designer Ritu Beri had conceptualised the easy-to-wear line called the ‘Vichaar Vastra’. And in the last few years, Ritu has done so much to promote khadi that the fabric has got a new identity in a way.An interesting thing is that her collection that Ritu Beri started 25 years ago was of Khadi itself.

On Independence Day, Children Appealed To Wear Khadi

Generally, when children are ready for special functions or party, then do not wear khadi. To change their thoughts on this, Ritu said during the celebration of Independence Day of 2018 that it is very cool to wear khadi. Khadi is perfect for every season, it keeps you fresh throughout the day, and hence it is a perfect choice for children. Especially now that children have become more aware of their choice, promoting kidswear in khadi is even more important.

Talking about the same, Ritu had said: “As a mother, I thought about the needs of ethnic wear for children. I felt that the clothes that kids wear should be made of such fabrics which are comfortable to wear, skin-friendly and look exclusive.” Ritu's 10-year-old daughter, Jia also likes to wear khadi like her mother. Ritu said that she also speaks about the importance of Khadi to children and how much more expensive this fabric is. Khadi is often called the AC Fabric as it keeps the body cool during the summer and warm in the winter. Khadi is a very wearable fabric and it can also be styled for children in many ways.

Presenting Khadi On The Ramp In A Unique Style

Ritu Beri, on 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, showcased his collection by the name of ‘Khadi Kaleidoscope’, which gave a glimpse of the cultures of India and Indonesia. For this, Ritu had made all dark shades part of the collection while highlighting the black color.

Ritu gave Khadi, Cotton and Silk a place in her collection. Talking about this in an interview, she had sai:, "A kind of drama can be created with Khadi Outfits. My collection is a beautiful combination of contemporary and traditional silhouettes. At the same time Ritu also said that instead of seeing Khadi in a traditional way, she presented a luxury image for it instead. In Ritu's words, 'Khadi is now a symbol of our national pride and handmade in India.'
