Executive presence is a complex construct, appearance is one of the most immediate and obvious dimensions. Skills and substance are important, but they are usually measured after perception is established. A person who dresses well conveys preparation, confidence, and alignment with leadership norms. Appearance instills the first layer of trust and credibility prior to a word being uttered. In my new book, I discuss how leaders can openly utilise clothing, body language, and grooming toconvey influence and integrity. It's about taking over the room graciously, not necessarily with credentials.
