While women across the country enjoy wearing the elegant and classic ensemble saree, this particular pan-Indian outfit is now going global with designers and celebrities oozing audiences by upping their saree game. Recently, during the London Fashion Week, under a unique section named ‘India Day’ models dazzled at the ramp, clad in different types of sarees. According to the media reports, starting from the famous Kanjeevarams to Assam’s mekhela-chador till the West Bengal’s Baluchari and Gujrat’s Ghatchola were featured at the event.

The one of its kind event, which was organised by Indian High Commission showcased almost every kind of sarees that women across the country wear. This not only gave a golden opportunity to the Indian craftsmen to exhibit their rich talent but also gave the Indian Textile industry a global platform to stand out. However, it's not just the Indian authorities who have been attempting to give saree an international podium, a few celebrities have also contributed immensely. For instance, everyone was blown away when global star Priyanka Chopra arrived at the Marrakech Film Festival, Morocco in a sparkling saree, paired with a statement neckpiece and messy hairdo.

During a media interview, the co-founder of Dolce and Gabbana, Stefano Gabbana revealed that they gave Dipti “a piece of fabric” and asked her to put it on herself.
