A wedding mandap having a backdrop of the gorgeous Shivalik mountain range, a stunning decor with a spring-summer vibe and beautifully dressed people coming together for an event that’s the beginning of a beautiful journey – all of this was the highlight of Yash Dongre’s wedding to Benaisha Kharas. Yash Dongre, the son of globally famous fashion designer Anita Dongre married his sweetheart in Mussourie and the bride must have been spoilt for choices as her bridal trousseau is as stunning as it gets.

The Yash-Benaisha Love Story

Image consultant, stylist and inspirational speaker Benaisha Kharas was introduced to the shy Yash Dongre by his best friend. Sailing through Yash’s commitment issues, breakup, long distance separation and Benaisha’s relationship with another guy, the couple finally managed to commit after 10 years after realising that they couldn’t be without each other. Yash took Benaisha to a secret spot in Malibu, got down on one knee the old-fashioned way and asked her to marry him. She responded saying ‘are you sure?’ Of course he was– she’d always been the one!

Brunch Look

The couple wanted their attire to be comfortable for a fun-filled carnival themed pre-wedding brunch. Keeping this in view, the bride wore a white ankle-length skirt with a matching collared blouse. The ensemble was pristine white with geometric and floral designs in green and blue. The groom wore a bandhgala in matching print with white pants. Talking about the creations, Anita wrote on Instagram:

“An organization close to our hearts, the Gujarat chapter of SEWA (Self-employed Women’s Association) is what inspired the origins of @anitadongregrassroot. The women of SEWA rallied to create the meticulously embroidered twinning look. High on the couple’s priority list was wearability and comfort in their attire. Keeping their outfits lightweight and fuss-free allowed them the freedom to spend quality time with friends and family.”

A Bride In Pink

The blushing bride always wanted to get married in pink. Her gota patti lehenga was handcrafted in Rajasthan, with Benaisha’s favourite quote embroidered into the dupatta.

When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew.

Benaisha’s fondness for inspirational quotes was also curated into the wedding décor, Anita Dongre revealed in an Instagram post. The groom wore a pale green sherwani paired with white pajama, a dupatta with pink embroidered detailing and a pink turban to complete the look.

Benaisha’s sleeveless ink blue gown from the House of Dongre had intricate pichhwai work and was complemented by Yash’s classic sherwani, at their cocktail held in Mumbai. The traditional craftwork with embroidered flowers and birds on the bride’s gown was designed in deliberate contrast to its Western silhouette.

The wedding reception, held at a traditional Parsi Agiary or Fire Temple (Seth Jeejeebhoy Dadabhoy Agiary in Colaba), was an ode to the couple’s different cultures.
