We are about to step into 2025 and as the world of work continues to evolve at a rapid pace, there are constant changes in hiring patterns and workforce dynamics. Let us keep you informed about the emerging trends that will shape the future of the work culture and job interview shenanigans. Our expert, Prerna Sabharwal, Head of Culture/HR head at Dot Media, shared her insights on six upcoming trends that will define human resources and talent acquisition patterns.

Hiring Pattern Trends Expected In 2025

Prerna said, “Will tomorrow's workforce be hired by humans or machines? As I think about this question, I'm reminded of the trembling shifts transforming talent acquisition. Driven by technological advancements and evolving employee and candidate expectations, recruitment is undergoing a significant makeover.”

“In today's world, inclusivity reigns supreme. Artificial intelligence is revolutionising recruitment, automating tasks like resume screening and interview scheduling, and personalising job recommendations… Some tools even record interviews for evaluators to review later! However, human oversight remains important to prevent biases and ensure fairness. Beyond AI, another shift is going on: skills-based hiring. Companies now prioritise practical expertise like AI development, leadership capabilities, or data analysis over traditional qualifications. This approach opens doors to diverse talent pools,” she added.

“Amidst these technological advancements, I firmly believe no technology can replace human touch! In today's world, empathy, understanding, and personal connections are more crucial than ever. Human interaction encourages trust, creativity, and collaboration, very essential components of successful teams,” highlighted Sabharwal.

1. AI-driven Recruitment

“I think AI is going to keep changing the recruitment game, but we need to make sure humans are still in the driver's seat. AI can help us sift through resumes and find the best candidates, but at the end of the day, we need people to make the final call,” shared the expert.

2. Skills-based Hiring

Prerna also mentioned that as we finally move away from just looking at qualifications and experience, skills-based hiring seems to be the future. “It's about finding people who can do the job, regardless of their background. It's a more inclusive way of hiring, and it's going to help us find some amazing talent!” she added.

3. Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion Initiatives

She continued, “For us, creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome and valued isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a must-have. We're committed to making diversity, equity, and inclusion a top priority, and that means ongoing effort and conversation.”

4. Remote Work Will Expand Global Talent Pools

Sabharwal pointed out that remote work has been a game changer in the field of talent acquisition. “We're no longer limited to hiring people who live within commuting distance,” she said.

5. Data Analytics

“Data is important to making decisions in recruitment. By analysing our hiring data, we can identify what's working and what's not, and make adjustments to find the best talent,” shared Prerna.

6. Human Touch And Empathy Will Remain Essential

“Technology can streamline a lot of our recruitment processes, but at the end of the day, hiring is still a human process. We need to make sure we're not losing the personal touch and empathy that makes all the difference in finding the right fit for our team,” mentioned the expert.

The future of talent acquisition may involve machines, but it's humans who will drive the real transformation,” concluded Prerna.
