Among the top 100 Google searched Asian celebrities in 2022, there are 36 women and 30 are from Bollywood itself including Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, and Deepika Padukone. While the list has a mix of Bollywood and regional actors, it is mainly dominated by the star kids.
The irony is, while “star kids”have been stirring up conversations on every social media platform and press events about nepotism and every movie starring them is getting boycotted, they stand to be the most searched on Google. “Star kids” like Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, and Kareena Kapoor are way more searched Bollywood celebs than actor Kangana Ranaut, who first sparked the conversation around nepotism in the industry by calling out Karan Johar on Koffee With Karan.
The latest trend reports are in and it seems no one should be blaming KJo for only casting privileged star kids in all his films. Why? Because we are equally guilty in searching about them repeatedly and driving up their internet clout.
Here’s a look at the highlighting moments from 2022 which made the celebrities most searched on Google this year.
Earlier this year, Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi released which became the talk of the town for her performance, box office numbers, and going international. In April, she got married to actor Ranbir Kapoor and gave birth to their baby girl Raha in November. Meanwhile, throughout the year, the couple promoted their most-talked-about film Brahmastra and have constantly been in the headlines for the boycott it faced and later its box office collection which crossed ₹ 500 crore despite the boycott.

While Kareena Kapoor kept herself in the news with her sons Jeh and Taimur’s appearances and with the many projects she has took up this year after a hiatus. She appeared along with Aamir Khan in yet another much-talked-about film of the year Laal Singh Chaddha which also faced boycott and backlashes. She was also spotted in several sets while shooting forJaideep Ahlawat and her maiden production venture.

Currently, actors Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan who have just begun their careers, are on the receiving end of most of the nepotism criticism especially after their appearance on KJo’s show Koffee With Karan this season. From discussing who’s to date Vijay Deverakonda to Johar calling Janhvi a ‘sex symbol’, the episode where the duo appeared together became the talk of the town.

Another 'star kid' Ananya Panday was on the headlines quiet a few times this year for her rumored affair with actor Ishaan Khatter followed by their alleged break up. Later, in the mid-year, she went for a promotional appearance on Koffee With Karan for her movie with Vijay Deverakonda, where KJo spilled some beans. He hinted that there is something going on between her and actor Aditya Roy Kapoor.

However, most of them were above on the list than the other self made Bollywood celebs such as Kriti Sanon, Kangana Ranaut or even Kiara Advani.
