The move came after JioHotstar’s senior leadership decided to distance the platform from the actor following allegations that he made sexually inappropriate and unprofessional comments during a media event held at JW Marriott, Juhu, on Thursday, June 19. Actor Ram Kapoor has found himself at the centre of controversy after reportedly making a series of sexually inappropriate and offensive remarks during the promotional events for his upcoming series ‘Mistry.’ His comments, which were allegedly directed at publicists and members of the show's marketing team, reportedly created discomfort among both the crew and the attending media. As a result, Kapoor was pulled from all future promotional appearances, with co-star Mona Singh continuing interviews solo the following day.

According to a report by Midday, eyewitnesses present at the event claim that during a media interaction at JW Marriott in Juhu, where Kapoor was seated alongside Mona Singh and JioHotstar executives, he repeatedly made comments filled with sexual innuendo. One particularly disturbing remark reportedly occurred while a journalist was setting up her microphone. “Referring to the hectic interview schedule, he said he felt ‘gang-raped,’” a JioHotstar insider told the publication.
As the day unfolded, the situation reportedly deteriorated further. The 51-year-old actor allegedly continued making inappropriate and offensive remarks, not just to journalists but also to members of the JioHotstar team and the public relations staff.
One executive shared that Kapoor commented on a colleague’s outfit, saying, “The clothes are distracting,” while looking at the length of her dress. Another team member recalled, “It didn’t register in the moment, but later that evening, we started going over everything he had said, and the list was long.”

According to this account, Kapoor also made a crude remark to a male colleague, stating that “his mother should have faked a headache and he shouldn’t have been born.” He is also said to have made inappropriate references to sex positions during the day.

Later, actor Mona Singh was seen handling all promotional interviews for ‘Mistry’ on her own. According to a source quoted by Hindustan Times, the decision to exclude Ram Kapoor from further promotional activities was taken after the matter was escalated internally.

Mid-Day reported that a JioHotstar representative, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the move and said, “This workplace prioritises dignity and safety. After a formal complaint was raised and eyewitnesses corroborated the incidents, the leadership acted swiftly. The platform is committed to distancing itself from any behaviour that may normalise workplace misconduct. That’s why all ongoing interviews are being conducted solely with Mona.”
‘Mistry,’ which marks the official Indian adaptation of the Emmy-winning series ‘Monk,’ is set to premiere on JioHotstar on June 27, 2025.
