HZ Exclusive: Kamya Panjabi Opens Up About Her Television Journey, Playing Negative Roles And More

Fitness Secret

When asked about the secret behind her ageless beauty, Kamya shared that she doesn’t go for much exercise or dietary regimes but indulges herself in mindful eating. She shared that her work is her exercise and her motivation.

Her Latest Role

The interviewer asked Panjabi about her experience with different languages and her recent show, Neerja. Panjabi then got into details about how she refined herself. She shared that she didn’t want her new character in the show to be in sync with her own personality or previous roles as she wanted her character to be just Didun.

For her experience with different languages and dialects, she mentioned that she hasn’t faced many problems during her previous experiences where she played Punjabi, Haryanvi and other characters but this time that she has to play a Bengali character, she finds the language a bit challenging.

She said that she doesn’t use Bengali much as she doesn’t want to do it wrong and uses only the words or dialogues that are quintessential to the character and story.

Appreciating The Fans

Kamya also took a moment to appreciate her fans, saying they have loved all her roles and that without them, she couldn’t have come this far.

Inspiration Behind Neerja

Our interviewer, Aashima Jain, asked Kamya about the inspiration behind her recent role in the progressive TV show ‘Neerja – Ek Nayi Pehchaan’ and whether she had met sex workers to get a real picture. Kamya told us that she did meet some sex workers to know them, their hardships and the depth of the issue they are presenting but definitely not to find inspiration for her character.

She shared that her character is purely an end result of her own, the channel’s and the creative’s hard work.
