Kim Soo-hyun Faces Property Seizure: From February 2025, South Korean star Kim Soo‑hyun, famed for ‘Queen of Tears’ and ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’, was drawn into a public controversy following the tragic death by suicide of actor Kim Sae‑ron on February 16, 2025 – his 37th birthday. Allegations emerged that he had dated Kim from as early as when she was a minor. As the controversy intensified, brands severed ties, several contracts were dropped, and multiple lawsuits were filed. Actor Kim Soo‑hyun and his agency, Gold Medalist, launched defamation suits against Kim Se-eui, head of the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute, Kim Sae‑ron’s family, and the agency of HoverLab, seeking around 12 billion won, over alleged claims of defamation and violations of the Information and Communications Network Act and the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
Seizure of Kim Soo‑hyun’s Property
Kim Soo-hyun has reportedly lost one of his three luxury apartments after failing to pay a penalty fee to the beauty brand Classys. Korean media confirmed the news on 12 June 2025. This development came just a day after his agency, Gold Medalist, won a court order to seize two properties belonging to YouTuber Kim Se Ui. The apartments, located in Seocho-dong’s Byuksan Blooming Complex and Hanyang 4th Complex, are part of a legal claim worth 4 billion won (approximately $2.9 million).
The claim was filed in response to damaging allegations made by Garos Sero’s channel, which accused Soo Hyun of having an inappropriate relationship with the late actor Kim Sae-ron. These accusations led to a major fallout for the actor, with several brand endorsements pulled and multiple drama projects put on hold.

Bang Sung-Hoon, the lawyer representing Kim Soo-hyun, confirmed the news in an official statement, “It's true that one property owned by Kim Soo-hyun at Galleria Forêt was recently seized by the court. However, this seizure is unfair. Kim Soo-hyun is a victim of HOVERLAB. Although the issues lie with the assailants, the arrows are being pointed toward the victim simply because contractual obligations were not met.”
The lawyer further added, “From the perspective of the advertiser, they paid a model but cannot use the model for advertisement purposes, resulting in financial losses. This is undeniable. But who triggered this situation? It was HOVERLAB. If we can prove through the court proceedings that HOVERLAB made false claims, then Kim Soo-hyun's reputation will be restored and the advertisers will no longer have reason to pursue compensation for damages.”
