We have all been through moments when we realize how much sugar do we consume, we question ourselves a lot. Weigh our commitment to health and fitness and once again return back to the old food and desert routines. Jaggery which is commonly known as ‘gur’ or ‘gud’ in India is a great alternative for sugar. You might have even heard your granny advising to have tea made of jaggery or use jaggery in almost all the sweet delights that attract you. But did you know that this sweet alternative for sugar is great for your skin too?
Jaggery or ‘gur’ is basically unrefined sugar that is obtained from raw, concentrated sugarcane juice. It has vital vitamins and minerals that promote healthy hair and skin. But very few people know that jaggery is also a source of glycolic acid – part of alpha-hydroxyl acids (AHA) – which has multiple benefits for the skin: it reduces fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and uneven skin colour.
Take a look at how you can include this power-packed ingredient into your beauty routine.
Can Bring Back Lost Skin Glow
Glycolic acid is widely used in skincare products due to its ability to help improve skin's condition and appearance.
How To Use
To make the most of this natural ingredient in jaggery, make a mask combing 2 tablespoons of powdered jaggery, 2 tablespoons of honey and the juice of half a lemon. Apply on the face and neck. Rinse with warm water after 5-10 minutes. You can replace honey with 1 teaspoon of peanut butter.
Can Reduce & Treat Age Spots
Off-course age hits us all and we all get worried about marks of ageing. But don’t worry, a humble ingredient like jaggery can come to your rescue. Glycolic acid present in jaggery is also known to fade dark spots, blemishes and hyperpigmentation.
How To Use
Make your own homemade glycolic acid mask combining 1 teaspoon of jaggery powder or dark brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of tomato juice, juice of half a lemon, 1/8 teaspoon of turmeric powder and enough warm green tea to make a paste. Mix all the ingredients well, apply to the skin and rinse it after 10 to 15 minutes.
Can Make Skin Healthy & Erase Fine Lines
With a very busy lifestyle, women often ignore their skin. When your one foot is in the office and your one hand on the phone, what else do you expect? However, you can still look after your skin without spending money on expensive cosmetic items. The glycolic acid in jaggery also helps in speeding up the skin's renewal process. Try this anti-ageing face mask to erase fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of ageing.
How To Use
Take 1 teaspoon of grape pulp, 1 teaspoon of cool black tea, a quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of jaggery powder, and enough rose water to make a paste. Mix all the ingredients and wash it off in 15 minutes. Use it one to two times a week and always follow with a serum and lotion for your skin type.
