Follow This 5 Day Ayurvedic Diet Plan By Expert After Diwali To Detoxify Your Body

Diwali festivities have finally come to an end and it is finally time to go back to our daily routine. All this time while celebrating with our families and friends, we binged on our favourite sweets, snacks and like every year gained some kilos. 

Now is the time to reduce all that weight and detox our bodies to prevent any health problems coming our way. 

We spoke to Dr. Smita Naram, Co-founder, Ayushakti and asked her to share a simple, Ayurveda based diet which can help us rejuvenate our health and bodies post Diwali. The health expert shared an easy detox and weight loss diet plan which will support the entire body and help us bring back lasting health naturally. 

The expert shared that this home detoxification diet should be followed for a minimum 5 days. 

Day 1 And 2

Prepare a drink using ginger powder and cumin seeds. In a pan, add some water, ginger powder and cumin seeds. Bring to boil and sieve. Transfer this drink to a thermos and keep handy. Drink this water whenever you feel hungry through the day. 

The expert shared that this drink helps in buring fats and improve metabolism. Drinking it regularly also makes one feel more energetic through the day.

Day 3 And 4

On day 3 and 4, one must only drink homemade soup when feeling hungry. All other foods should be skipped. 

The soup should be prepared using soaked moong, bottle gourd or lauki, snake gourd (parwal), soft gourd (turai) and leafy vegetables. Spices like cumin, coriander, ginger garlic paste, garam masala should be added as per taste.

Before going to bed, one must drink half a glass of lukewarm water with 1 tbsp castor oil or ginger tea.

Day 4 And 5

On these last 2 days, one must prepare a medium gravy using moong and vegetables and all the spices. This should be consumed through the day whenever feeling hungry.

Again, half a glass of lukewarm water should be consumed with castor oil or a cup or ginger tea before going to bed. The expert shared that this will help in eliminating melted toxins in the body. 

Following this diet will make one feel a lot more energetic and fresh. It will not only help lose weight but also lead to inch loss. 

After following the 5 day detox diet, one must slowly and steadily move towards their regular diet. The diet should include foods like red meat, wheat products, sour and fermented products, fried and junk food.

Smoothies For Digestion

The expert further shared that drinking homemade smoothies will help aid digestion. Here are 2 easy recipes - 

Recipe 1 - Mint Coriander Smoothie

In a grinder, add handful of fresh mint leaves, handful of fresh coriander leaves. Add some water and prepare a smoothie. Take out in a glass, add salt and pepper and drink up. 

Recipe 2 - Fruit Smoothie

  • In a grinder, add 1 medium size apple, 1/2 beetroot, 1 cup carrot cubes, 1 inh ginger. 
  • Add 1 glass of water and then blend all the ingredients. Pour in a glass and enjoy.
