It may appear challenging, but getting your stomach in shape is not difficult; all you need to do is start implementing a healthier approach. Practising Yoga regularly can be one great way of burning more calories, and activating core muscles that help to flatten your stomach area.

Recently, Malaika and Sarva Yoga shared a video on Instagram on May 2, 2022, including three Yoga asanas that focus on reducing belly obesity. 

Actress Malaika Arora wrote, "let's concentrate on the asanas that can be added to your daily routine to help combat the accumulation of weight around your waistline."

3 Asanas To Help You Reduce Belly Fat

1. Naukasana (Boat Pose)

Boat Pose to reduce belly fat

Boat Pose, also known as Naukasana, can help you improve confidence while also strengthening your willpower, determination, and self-control. It works wonders for abdominal and core muscle strengthening.  It also works with the deep hip flexors and helps improve balance.

It also promotes blood circulation throughout the body, which aids in the burning of belly fat. Keep practicing this pose on a regular basis to master this pose.

How To Do Naukasana (Boat Pose)

  • Start by sitting on the mat with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor.
  • Lift your feet. Keep your knees bent for now.
  • Your upper body will naturally fall back but your back needs to be straight.
  • Straighten your legs to a 45 degree angle. Your upper body should be as upright as possible such that it makes a V shape with the legs.
  • Straighten your arms roughly parallel to the floor.
  • Do your best to balance on the sit bones. Focus on lifting your chest to support the balance.
  • Stay for a minimum of five breaths.
  • Release your legs while exhaling. Then inhale and sit up.

Don't push yourself too hard while doing this pose. You can always take support and eventually, you will learn the pose.

2. Kumbhakasana (Plank Pose)

Plank pose is one of the most efficient yoga poses for toning and flattening the belly. Carrying this posture for more than a minute will give effective results that engage the abdominal muscles. It also helps you stay focused, enhances your concentration, and develops and tones the muscles in your shoulders, upper arms, forearms, and wrists. It also improves body posture and strengthens the hips.

How To Do Kumbhakasana (Plank Pose)

  • Start by putting all fours (legs and hands) on the ground or on a yoga mat.
  • Align your shoulders over your wrists and your knees under your hips.
  • Keep your head relaxed and your gaze fixed on the ground.
  • Now, press your hands into the floor, take a step back with one foot, then another, bringing your torso parallel to the floor.
  • After this, keep your hands straight to the floor.
  • Distribute your weight evenly across your upper arms and legs, as well as on your back.

3. Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)


Cobra Pose can provide the  much-needed abdomen massage while also helping in getting rid of the annoying bulging belly.It also tones the buttocks, strengthens the spine, expands the lungs and shoulders, relieves tension and exhaustion, soothes sciatica, and is also good for asthma.

How To Do Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)

  • Lie on your stomach and slowly raise your trunk, keeping your head supported by your palms. The arms should be bent at the elbows.
  • Look up with your neck slightly arched backwards. Make sure your navel is pressed firmly against the floor.
  • Now, putting toes onto the floor, apply pressure. After that, extend them out.
  • Hold the pose for a few seconds.
