When one consumes alcohol, the liver breaks it down into acetaldehyde, a carcinogenic compound. This compound is believed to promote DNA damage and oxidative stress. This compound also interferes with the immune function of the body and makes it difficult for the body to fight cancerous cells. According to numerous studies, women who consume alcohol are at a higher risk of breast cancer. Alcohol is a cancer-causing agent and shouldn't be consumed. If one wants to consume it, they should not have more than 1 drink per day.
