Veteran actress and politician Kirron Kher is suffering from blood cancer, multiple myeloma, and the heart-breaking news was recently confirmed by her husband Anupam Kher.
Anupam Kher took to his Instagram handle and shared a post on his feed where he wrote about Kirron Kher's disease. He informed everyone that Kirron Kher has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
He further shared that she is currently undergoing treatment and is being looked after by a phenomenal set of doctors. Lastly, he shared that she is on her way to recovery and asked her fans to keep sending her love.
It is indeed tragic to hear the news but we are glad that Kirron Kher is now recovering.

What Is Multiple Myeloma?
Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer. It is a cancer of plasma cells, a type of white blood cells. These cells make antibodies and fight infections and germs attacking the body.
When the cancerous cells accumulate in the bone marrow and push away the healthy blood cells, a person is diagnosed with this disease.
What Are The Symptoms Of Multiple Myeloma?
Though one can't notice any signs or symptoms in the early stages of this disease, there are symptoms that might occur.
- Loss of appetite
- Weight Loss
- Weakness in legs
- Bone pain in chest or spine
- Excessive thirst
What Causes Blood Cancer Or Multiple Myeloma?
There is no exact cause of multiple myeloma but it starts when one abnormal plasma cell starts to multiply in the bone marrow, more than it should.
What Are The Stages Of Multiple Myeloma?
This type of blood cancer is divided into 3 stages and the third stage is the terminal stage. It is rare cancer.
Is Multiple Myeloma Curable?
There is no cure for multiple myeloma but it can be managed in most patients. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy are some of the treatments used for treating this type of cancer. According to a study, 1/3rd of the patients diagnosed with myeloma survive for at least 10 years.
Kirron Kher was admitted to the Kokilaben Hospital after she was diagnosed with the disease last year. During a press conference, Anupam Kher shared that while she was in Chandigarh, she broke her left arm and when they rushed for treatment, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. He shared that the disease had then spread to her arm and right shoulder. They then travelled back to Mumbai for her treatment.
She was admitted to the hospital where her treatment began. It went on for about 4 months. Anupam Kher shared that though she is no longer admitted in the hospital, she does have to visit the hospital regularly for treatment.
