A healthy diet is very important for a healthy being. Most families are spending a most of their time indoors and this has lead to a sedentary lifestyle. The last year has seen an increased screen time, the meal schedules became erratic and having unhealthy snacks increased by a big number. The whole work from home or study from home has boosted our frequency of snacking and many of us have been stress eating fried/unwholesome foods. In the long run, this can be harmful to your body.
To break away from this vicious cycle, move away from calorie-laden snacks to nutritious snacks like almonds, fresh seasonal fruit and yogurt. Almonds are a healthy snack as they are a great source of nutrients, and has a number of benefits like weight management, diabetes management, heart health, and skin health. Begin with almond as snacks or even foxnuts in a small quantity would be great. Small changes are a big step towards healthy eating and a better lifestyle. Apart from this, look at supplementing your diet with more wholesome and nutrient-rich food.
A sedentary lifestyle leads to severe and long term diseases. No matter how busy and stressful your life gets, you should not compromise on your health and fitness. Push yourself to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, and this will boost a good mood. Rope in more people or your family members to workout with you instead of feeling low and not doing anything about it. But only exercising isn’t enough.
Practice mindful snacking along with working out which will also help in weight management. Snacking on almonds would be a good beginning as they make for a healthy and tasty snack, which have satiating properties that promote feelings of fullness which will also help in keeping your cravings under control.
It’s only natural to take on stress these days with the lifestyle we follow and last year has not made it any easier. Do not delay and let stress go unmanaged, as it can have some of the worse consequences on your health. If it persists for longer periods, more serious mental and physical health concerns, such as depression and heart disease, can develop.
Some of the best ways to manage stress are by practicing mindful meditation, as mentioned before as well, regularly exercising, listen to soothing music, get the right amount of sleep and most importantly, eat well. Start eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and food items that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon. Dark green leafy vegetables in particular are brain-protective and supplement this with a handful of nuts such as almonds.
