For almost all women, periods are the most uncomfortable time. During this time, many women experience pain, bloating, and discomfort. This is because a lot of nutrients are lost during this process, and issues like pain, bloating, and discomfort are common when we don't get enough nutrients in our diet on a regular basis. It could also be due to lack of exercise and following a sedentary lifestyle.
Nidhi Nahata, a nutritionist, health coach, and the founder of Bangalore's Justbe Resto Café, offers advice on how to manage pain, bloating, and discomfort during your periods.
Exercise is a medicine. Over time, regular exercise improves blood flow, reduces inflammation, and boosts energy.
2. Stay Hydrated
Keeping yourself hydrated at all times is important. It reduces mood swings and helps in minimising bloating.
3. Take Healthy Diet
Consuming a lot of fruits and vegetables, along with greens, mixed seeds, herbs, berries, and beans, will help to revitalise the body by providing it with all the nutrients it needs.
4. Avoid Dairy And Meat
It’s best to avoid dairy and meat products during periods. Dairy contains various hormones and they play foul with the already existing hormones in our body like estrogens, progesterone, and testosterone.
5. Check B12 And D3 Levels
Checking our B12 and D3 levels is another vital step. We can get rid of discomfort, cramps, bloating, sadness, mood swings, irritability, exhaustion, and nausea by maintaining the proper B12 and D3 levels.
