Spiritual awakening is the profound Realization of the Truth, of one's true nature – it is realizing that I am not the mind, body and the ego that I always thought I was. Rather, I am a Soul, a Spark Of Unique Life, that is a spark of the Divine, SIP, the Supreme Immortal Power that we all call, God. This Self-Realization and God-Realization leads one in experiencing a deep sense of inner peace, unity and purpose. It marks a shift from the mind state to a state of Consciousness, where the individual experiences a connection with the Divine, the universe and ultimately, to a higher-self. In the Spiritual Awakening, old patterns, attachments and illusions dissolve, revealing the impermanence of the material world and the eternal nature of the Soul. Often motivated by suffering, crisis or Spiritual practices like silence, meditation prayers and chanting, Spiritual Awakening transforms perception, bringing clarity, compassion and a desire to live authentically as the Divine Soul and an instrument of the Divine. Spiritual Awakening is not an end-state but an ongoing journey of deeper Awareness and inner transformation.

Spiritual Journey: Mind, Body, Ego's Blissful Freedom
Profound Inner Shifts
What happens to the mind and the body when one undergoes Spiritual Awakening? When one undergoes Spiritual Awakening, both the mind and body experience profound shifts. These changes can be subtle or intense, or temporary or long-lasting, depending on the person and the depth of the Awakening that they experience. When one Realizes the Truth that he is not the body that he has claimed to be for his life and identified with, the bodily shift that happens is that he Realizes that his body is not just a body but a temple in which, the Soul or the Divine spark, resides. There's often a stronger connection to the body, breath and nature, leading one to pursue healthier living and mindfulness. One starts treating his body with extra care and awareness and thereby, may also have heightened levels of sensitivity to food, light, noise and any other external stimuli.

Mental Liberation Unfolds
When one Realizes the Truth that he is neither the mind nor the ego that he had identified with all along, one begins to loosen his attachment to identity, roles and personal stories. There's a fading of the ego or ‘sense of arrogant self,’ and it is often replaced with a sense of unity with life, the universe or the higher Consciousness. There is heightened awareness of the Consciousness too. Thoughts become clearer and more present. They don’t barrage and attack in bunches, rather, gently flow in the Consciousness, one-by-one and get discriminated by the intellect. Mental noise becomes lesser and lesser and there is more inner stillness and a stronger sense of ‘being.’ Repressed emotions, like, grief, fear or anger, may also surface to be acknowledged and released. This emotional detox can be intense but healing and cathartic. Material goals may lose their appeal, replaced by a yearning for truth, love and purpose. Compassion and empathy often increase. One experiences a deep sense of peace, contentment and fulfillment.
The Bliss of Enlightenment
Spiritual Awakening is also called Enlightenment, where one experiences SatChitAnanda – Sat means Truth, Chit means Consciousness and Ananda means the deep sense of bliss. Therefore, SatChitAnanda means Eternal Bliss in Truth Consciousness. Knowing and realizing the Truth about oneself, God and this whole universe will lead to one experiencing an unending surge of joy and bliss called ‘Ananda’. One will be free from all the sufferings of the human birth – the pain of the body, misery of the mind and the agony of the ego. One will experience Everlasting Joy, Eternal Bliss and True Divine Love.
Spiritual Awakening or Enlightenment is a mind-body transformation too. An individual, who experiences Awakening, realizes that he is neither the body nor the mind nor the ego. He becomes freer, more peaceful and expansive. On the other hand, the body may undergo energetic or physiological shifts as it integrates with this new state of Mindfulness, Awareness or Consciousness.
