June 21 was recognised as International Yoga Day by the United Nations in 2014. This year, let us tell you how Yoga can help you improve your heart health and techniques and postures to help you boost energy and vitality. Scroll down to learn more about this from Dr Archika Sudhanshu, Spiritual and Meditation Guru.
The expert said “Yoga is a science, an art and a way of living for a healthy, happy and prosperous life. It is an ancient practice with numerous benefits for both physical and mental health and can be a powerful tool for improving heart health.” She told us about certain asanas that are particularly beneficial to reduce stress on the heart. These are usually standing poses including Tadasana (Mountain Pose) and Vrikshasana (Tree Pose) as they help to improve posture and alignment which in turn can improve circulation. Poses like Bhujangasana (Cobra), Dhanurasana (Bow), and Paschimottan asana (Seated Forward Bend) also boost circulation and help in stretching and strengthening the body. These poses promote better flow and oxygen delivery to the heart.
The expert mentioned, “Yoga is a powerful tool for both outer and inner self-development. Regular yoga practice can improve health and balance emotions. Yoga offers a natural and effective way to combat fatigue and boost your energy levels. Techniques such as Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing), Surya Namaskar, and Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose) can help boost your energy.”
