Is it that annoying time of the month again when you have to deal with the painful and soul-eating cramps in your abdomen, lower back and inner thighs? Though there isn't much we can do about menstrual cramps, the good news is that there are ways that can provide us relief from the pain. The convenient ways to deal with menstrual cramps are-

1. Drink Tons Of Water

Drinking water works wonders, especially during periods. Drink lots of water, at least 8-10 glasses everyday during periods. It can help reduce the bloating and ease the pain. Try having water with some lemon and mint, also try natural fruit juices, ginger tea, etc.

2. Try Acupressure

Menstrual pains can be reduced by applying the right pressure at the right points, which improves blood circulation. A practitioner can show you how to locate the trigger points and apply pressure to them to achieve the desired results.

3. Eat Healthy

While you're menstruating, stay away from foods and beverages that induce bloating and cause water retention. Increase your vegetable consumption and consume low-fat or fat-free dairy products. Have food rich in magnesium such as seafood, green vegetables and fruits.

4. Heating Pad

Nothing could be more relaxing than cuddling up in bed with a heating pad. Cramps are caused when your muscles are contracting inside. Applying a heating pad or a hot water bottle on your tummy works amazingly to relieve pain as heat can help relax muscles. If you don't have a heating pad or hot water bottle, a hot shower or bath would do the trick too.

5. Mild Exercise

The sound of exercise while in periods of pain may sound unpleasant to you, but give mild exercise a chance. A light routine can help you in reducing pain and will provide you relief. You may do a slow-paced walk or fifteen minutes of yoga, etc.

6. Orgasm

You read that right. An orgasm can help you with the nasty cramps. When you orgasm, the body releases chemicals like oxytocin and dopamine that act as painkillers and help in dealing with the menstrual cramps.

7. Sleep Like A Baby

sleep as much

Try to sleep as much as you can as it helps with keeping the menstrual cramps away. If you are having difficulty while sleeping due to cramps, keep switching to different sleep positions until you fall asleep.

8. Stay Away From Caffeine

Avoid Caffeine to avoid much period pain. If you consume caffeine everyday then you must take a break for a few days during periods as caffeine causes acidity. Caffeine is present in tea, soda, chocolate, etc. Instead of them, you may consume smoothies that are rich in antioxidants like berries and greens.

These tricks are known to help so you must try them without any further delay to get relief from your pain. But if these do not help you enough, you may contact your medical practitioner or doctor.

I hope you’ll find them useful.
