Check For Leakages
As a first step, it is important that you check your home for leakages. Small cracks, open cupboards, damaged roof, and crevices can turn your home into an aquarium. Check all the pipes, dripping taps, and also ceilings should be fixed before the season sets in but it is never too late.
Drainage System
Keep your drains clean and devoid of any debris as constant rainwater can become stagnant in clogged drains. Not just that, we do not want any foul smell or insect breeding either. Sprinkle bleaching agents as that will keep all the rodents and other small animals away.

Linen Change
Yes, we know that during the rainy season, drying our washed clothes can be an issue for some of us due to lack of space but washing all the linen twice a month is important. The moisture in the air clubbed with dirt can damage the colour of your sheets permanently. Also, the musty smell is the last thing you need so it is best to wash them once every two weeks.
Disinfectants
This time of the year is the best for cockroaches and bugs and all those centipedes that you probably find creepy. Monsoon is their favourite season for that matter. This is very risky when it comes to sickness and insect bites. So the best way to keep them at bay is the regular usage of disinfectants. Clean all corners of the house and clear all those cobwebs as well. Your floors should be dry as well.
Books
If you are a book lover and have a huge collection then just dusting only from the top will not do especially in this season. The damage that moisture from rain can cause is irreversible especially on leather-bound books. Even paperbacks bear the brunt some times, check the pages. They can even get fungus and you will notice small black spots as well. Therefore, keep all almirahs shut tight and throw in some naphthalene balls to keep the foul odour at bay and ward off all bugs. When you buy naphthalene balls, buy from a trusted brand as there are many fakes in the market as well. Once the rain stops, do not forget to air the books.
