Amidst the rising cases of the deadly coronavirus, it has become all the more imperative for all of us to get our vaccines as soon as possible. Currently, there are three COVID-19 vaccines that are available across India - Covaxin, Covishielf, and Sputnik V. These have been approved for usage in India.
COVID-19 vaccines have two doses. The prime dose prepares our immune system to build antibodies and the second dose comes as a booster dose for the immune system to build more antibodies.
While earlier, vaccination was open in phases depending on the age groups, recently, the centre opened vaccination for all adults over 18. This third phase of the vaccination drive would open from 1st May.
Delhi CM Announces Free Vaccination
This morning, Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal announced that the government will provide free vaccines to everyone above the age of 18 starting 1st May. He shared that the current vaccines are not safe for children which is why the age restriction has been announced.
He further shared that his government has given an approval for the purchase of 1.34 COVID-19 vaccines and he will make sure that people are vaccinated at the earliest.
Not just Delhi but many other states too have decided to give vaccines for free to their citizens in the upcoming third phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive. Read on.
State Minister Nawab Malik too recently announced that the state will vaccinate all its citizens for free. Maharashtra was one of the worst-hit states by the coronavirus some time back. However, after the lockdown, there has been a decrease in the number of fresh COVID-19 cases.
Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik also announced free vaccination to all the citizens between 18 and 45. Odisha has about 19.3 million residents and the vaccination drive is believed to have an estimated cost of Rs. 2000 Crores.
The state will provide COVID-19 vaccines to the entire population between the age group of 18 to 45 for free of cost.
CM Bhupesh Baghel announced that the state government will pay for all the vaccination for people above the age of 18.
Earlier last week, Bihar CM, Nitish Kumar tweeted, "18 वर्ष एवं इससे ऊपर के सभी बिहार वासियों का मुफ्त टीकाकरण राज्य सरकार द्वारा किया जाएगा।." (Citizens above the age of 18 years will be provided COVID-19 vaccine, free of cost)
CM Yogi Adityanath has approved an order of 50 lakh doses of Covishield and Covaxin as the state is getting ready for the upcoming vaccine drive for those between the age of 18 to 45.
Assam too has placed an order for 1 Crore vaccines with Bharath Biotech as the state will provide free COVID-19 vaccines to the entire population above the age of 18.
Though West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has announced free vaccines for all above the age of 18 years but the drive won't begin from 1st May like other states. The vaccination drive will begin from 5th May because of the ongoing elections.
CM K Chandrashekhar Rao recently announced free vaccines to everyone. The CM shared that it would cost somewhere around Rs. 2500 Crores to vaccinate all the citizens.
Alla Krishna Srinivas, Deputy Chief Minister shared that the government will provide the COVID-19 vaccine free of cost to everyone above the age of 18 years.
If you are from Haryana then you can get vaccinated free of cost at any of the government hospitals. The government has set up a registration portal where everyone will have to get registered for vaccination.
The state's CM Hemant Soren announced free vaccination with a tweet. He wrote, "In Jharkhand, the corona vaccine will be provided free of cost to people above the age of 18 by the state government."
The state will provide free COVID-19 vaccine to people between the age group of 18 to 44 years starting 1st May.
Jammu And Kashmir
All the residents of the Union territory between the age group of 18 to 45 will be provided the COVID-19 vaccine for free of cost.
Not just the state government is offering free of cost vaccines but they have also announced that free camps will be set up in districts that were affected most by the coronavirus.
CM Prem Singh Tamang announced that the state government will bear the cost of vaccination for people between the age group of 18 to 45 years.
Karnataka will have a cabinet meeting today to discuss free vaccination for citizens between 18-45 years of age group.
How To Register?
All the adults who are eligible for the vaccination can register themselves at the co-WIN portal or on the Aarogya Setu app. Those above the age group of 45 years can get the registration done at the hospital itself.
Getting a vaccine will help us bring down the fresh COVID-19 cases and also prevent the risk of COVID deaths.
