Holi celebrations are incomplete without some lip-smacking sweets. Instead of bringing boxes of mithaai for your guests this holi, why not try preparing some sweets at home this year? While some mithaaiwalas use good ingredients to prepare the sweets, others may not really do that! Sweets are anyways in high demand during festivities and it is great if you can prepare them at home. Preparing some delicious sweets at home is not a really tough task. We have two easy recipes that you can prepare at home this Holi:

Badaam Barfi

Badaam or almonds are a healthy nut. Make a healthy and delicious barfi using some simple ingredients at home. This one is a tasty and healthy sweet. 

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup badam (almonds)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp warm milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ghee
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 packet saffron 

Directions:

Soak your almonds for two hours in hot water. After 2 hours, drain water and start peeling the almonds. Now blend the almonds with milk to make a smooth paste. In a small bowl, add saffron and warm milk. Mix and keep aside. Now take a non-stick pan and add almond paste. Keep stirring. Next, add cardamom powder and sugar. Take a greased plate and pour the almond mix on the plate evenly. Let it cool. Cut into diagonal pieces. Store the barfi in an airtight container. Chocolate Barfi

If you love chocolate then you will love this delicious sweet. Add a twist of chocolate to your regular barfi and we promise you will not stop binging on this one. Try making this easy sweet at home this Holi.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup maida
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder 
  • 1 cup sugar 
  • 1/4 cup water 
  • 1/4 cup ghee/ butter

Directions:

In a pan, add butter, maida and stir fry for a few minutes. Add cocoa powder and keep mixing.  Next, add sugar and water. Mix all the ingredients well. As the mix gets thick, switch off the flame. Now take a greased plate and add the barfi mix to it. Using a spatula, smoothen it from the top. Let it cool and set for around 30 minutes. Cut into barfi squares. You can garnish as per choice. Cut and serve.
