A night of good night sleep is a must for your well-being. If not, there are several issues that you may have to face. This includes mood swings, irritability, weight gain, weight loss, lack of concentration and much more. While there can be various reasons behind the same, one of the most common among them all is ingesting certain foods before hitting the bed.

If you feel bloated, or constipated before your bedtime, there are chances that your sleep can get interrupted. The first thing to do is to see a doctor. Besides this, also be mindful of your eating habits. There are certain foods that health experts suggest avoiding before bedtime. Here are some of them.

Cucumber

Cucumber

You must have heard that one should not consume cucumbers. While some people think that people avoid having cucumber at night due to some age-old superstitions, in reality, there is a scientific reason behind it. If several health reports are to be believed, cucumbers are packed with an element called cucurbitacin. This is known to cause digestion issues, and further interrupting your good night sleep.

Coffee

If you are into a job, wherein you work for countless hours, especially at night, you know the significance of decaffeinating drinks. However, the same drinks, such as coffee can cost your sleep. Reportedly, having coffee can keep you awake for about five to six hours. Hence, if you have it right before or a couple of hours before hitting the bed, you will have trouble falling asleep.

Chocolate

Chocolate

Most of us love chocolate from the bottom of our hearts. And why not, the taste of chocolate makes us feel relaxed for a while. However, the same chocolate can take a toll on your health if consumed at night. Not only chocolates are a source of sugar and calories, but also caffeine. And as discussed earlier, caffeine is great to keep you awake but is not so good if you are having issues falling asleep.

Red Wine

Red Wine

When the body falls asleep, you stay in a resting position. It is important, as most of the organs all go in a relaxed position. If you have items like red wine right before your bedtime, you will disrupt that pattern. This is because red wine is known to boost the blood flow (natural herbs to control high blood pressure) to certain areas of your body. While the body will not stay in the resting position, you won’t be able to fall asleep as soon as you hit the bed.
