Breakfast is an integral part of our diets and if we do not have it properly then we are bound to face the music and remain unhealthy. It is not just that, we might even ruin our entire day if the day does not start on a right note. Therefore, try to avoid these food options for breakfast and opt for healthier ones. 

Cereal

Many of us do this, get the cereal box in the market which is high in added sugar and low in good-for-you stuff like fibre and protein, pour in some milk and that is our breakfast. But this is the soul reason why your stomach will start rumbling again mid-morning, making those mediocre doughnuts in the break room look more appealing than ever. 

Instead, treat your body to overnight oats. But if you really want to have cereals then go for the ones which have at least 5g fibre and less than 10g sugar per serving.

Store-Bought Breakfast Sandwiches

Make your own sandwich using egg cheese etc but kindly avoid the boxed frozen ones which are packed with sodium, preservatives, and unhealthy fats. 

White Toast

Ditch white bread and go for a brown bread toast as the former is low in fibre. A fibre-rich diet helps in maintaining bowel integrity and it also aids in reducing bad cholesterol. However, when you buy brown bread read the label because it is not a given that it's 100 per cent whole wheat bread. 

Greasy Fry Up

Now, this a breakfast full of calories. These greasy plates are usually fried in vegetable oils. What we suggest is that you opt for poached or scrambled eggs instead of fried. Also, grill your bacon, rather than frying. Add mushrooms to your plate as they are high on fibre. Lightly fry them in coconut oil, so that they contain some healthy fats.

 

Just A Smoothie

If you have just a smoothie for breakfast, it is a good sugar-packed option, however, if you blend fruit, the natural sugars are released from within the cell walls of the fruit and become free sugars. These free sugars are harmful for your teeth and energy levels. Even if you add spinach to your smoothie, it won’t cancel out the sugar, so try to keep fruit to a minimum and include more greens. This smoothie does not even have proteins so you will start feeling hungry soon.

Coffee With Syrup

If you want to shoot up your sugar levels and artificial colours then sure go ahead and add flavoured syrup to your coffee, whether it's pumpkin, vanilla or hazelnut. Just a pump of any syrup will increase the calorie count significantly and that is for sure not a good way to start the day. If you want flavour then put some powdered cinnamon or maybe some vanilla extract would be good.

Blueberry Muffin

Blueberries provide high amounts of antioxidants and may lower your risk for heart disease, but this sadly doesn't mean that blueberry muffins are healthy! These treats don’t usually contain many blueberries and tend to be high in fat and calories. Also, the blueberries you see might just be fake!

Concentrated Orange Juice

Concentrated juice is the best example of processed food which has lost all its nutrients. A juice concentrate contains less than fresh juice, due to the evaporation and filtration techniques. It is also high in fructose, which can increase in your blood sugar levels. Might as well eat an orange than juice.
