India is a large country with 28 states and 8 union territories, each with its own unique features and special beauties. From North to South, East to West, their is so much to explore in the country that people from all over the world choose it as a vacation destination.
If you have a wanderlust or enjoy travelling, I'm sure you've visited various locations in India to marvel at their beauty. But did you know that you couldn't visit all of India as easily as you can visit various places? For different reasons, certain destinations in India require permits from even Indians to allow them entry. Take a look at some of the destinations where even Indians need a special permit to visit:
1. Lakshadweep
Lakshadweep is a beautiful island that exudes an indescribable sense of peace and natural beauty. It's a great place to unwind, and it's home to a diverse diversity of birds and wildlife. However, as lovely as the site seems, getting to this island is not easy.
To visit Lakshadweep, all visitors must obtain a permit from the Indian Union Territory, which keeps track of the number of tourists who visit the paradise island.
2. Nagaland
Nagaland is blessed with lush scenery, breathtaking beauty, and a plethora of exciting adventure activities.
Visitors will need an Inner Line Permit to visit this destination, which can be obtained from the deputy commissioners of Kohima, Dimapur, New Delhi, Mokokchung, Shillong, and Kolkata. You can also obtain the permit via the internet.

3. Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh is a wonderful destination for an amazing holiday, with stunning mountains, unexplored passes, serene lakes, and famous monasteries. However, because Arunachal Pradesh shares borders with Bhutan, China, and Myanmar, it is necessary to obtain an Inner Line Permit (ILP) even if you are an Indian traveller.
4. Mizoram
Mizoram is a nature lover's dream come true, with so much to see and explore. It is India's fifth smallest state, but it has a diverse historical and cultural legacy. However, visiting this state is not as convinient as visiting several other places in India. Because Mizoram is sandwiched between Bangladesh and Myanmar, an inner line permission is needed to visit, which can be obtained through the Mizoram government's liaison officer in the following cities: Silchar, Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong, and New Delhi. Those flying into the state can also obtain the special pass from the security officer upon arrival at Aizawl's Lengpui Airport.
There are two types of ILPs available: one that is temporary and only valid for 15 days, and the other that is valid for six months.
