    Basil Or Tulsi

    It is commonly used for several kinds ailments in most homes. It helps to treat cold and cough which is quite common during winters. Also, it has a soothing and curative action on the skin and the scalp. 

    To get the best results, just boil the tulsi leaves in water and make a paste after cooling down the leaves. The, apply this paste on your skin. This will help to reduce inflammation and also, cures eruptions. Along with this, it brightens up the skin and add an extra glow. This glow is due to the flavonoids which have an antioxidant effect.

In order to make amla hair oil, just take a handful of dry amla, grind coarsely and add it to 100 ml pure coconut oil. Keep this oil in an airtight glass bottle in the sun for about 15 days. Then, strain the oil and store it. Apply it on your hair whenever you like. 

    Aloe Vera 

    It is one of the most useful ingredients for both skin and hair, especially during the winter season. This is because it is a powerful moisturizer and helps to relieve dryness of the skin and hair. 

    It also contains zinc which has a healing effect on wounds, burns and eruptions. Aloe Vera seals off the loss of moisture, softens dead skin cells and helps their removal. Thus, leaving the skin smoother and brighter. It has also shown remarkable results on sun-damaged skins. This is due to its moisturizing, softening, soothing and healing actions. For best results, apply the gel daily on the face and wash off after 15 minutes.


    As we all know, the skin can become dry and dehydrated during the winters. This leads to sensitive skin, with dry, red and flaking patches. Chamomile Tea bags comes into rescue at this time as they may be used to soothe dry skin sensitivity. Just brew them in hot water, cool the water and use it to wash the face and also use it as a last rinse for the hair.

It also improves blood circulation to the skin surface. Rose water contains Vitamins A, C, D. E and B3. It also contains minerals including calcium and potassium.

Just mix together 100 ml Rose water with one teaspoon pure glycerin. Keep this mixture in an airtight bottle. Apply it to relieve dryness on the face and arms.

    Brahmi (Centella Asiatica)

    Also known as the Indian Pennywort and is a very common ingredient in several Ayurvedic hair care products. It is said to be quite beneficial if you are losing hair due to stress. 

    Get some fresh Brahmi leaves and make a paste. Then, apply it on the hair like a pack. You can also get the dry leaves at an Ayurvedic shop. Just add a little water to make a paste and apply the pack on the hair. Then, wash it off after 20 to 30 minutes. Brahmi hair oils are also available.
