As the summer season has arrived, applying neem on your scalp and hair can show miraculous results. Why? 

The Science of Ayurveda believes that neem has the magical ability to cleanse both skin and hair. Its antimicrobial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties can help in treating the skin or scalp conditions. It can fight off the infection that is causing itchiness in your scalp while also keeping dandruff at bay.

Coconut oil, on the other hand, is enriched with lauric acid which is actually a saturated fat that has antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties. So, it can help in treating itchiness and fungal infections. 

Further, coconut oil can also help in balancing the moisture of your scalp while soothing an itchy scalp.


  • Take 15-20 neem leaves and grind them a bit.
  • Then, add two tablespoons of coconut oil and grind both the ingredients together.
  • Once the mixture has a thick paste-like consistency, transfer it to a clean bowl.
  • Now, apply the paste evenly on your scalp while massaging in a circular motion.
  • Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes.
  • Wash it off with lukewarm water and rinse your hair with a mild shampoo of your choice.
  • Apply this hair mask once or twice a week to get relief from an itchy scalp.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Almond Oil, And Tea Tree Oil Hair Mask

Apple Cider Vinegar is truly a star when it comes to solving your hair woes! It contains acetic acid which has been used as a wound disinfectant for thousands of years. 

Further, Apple Cider Vinegar has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties that fight against viruses and bacteria that cause itchiness on the scalp. When applied to the scalp, Apple Cider Vinegar can also soothe scalp irritations keeping the itchiness at bay.

While, almond oil is known for its healing properties. It is an emollient which basically means that it can help in treating your hair and can make it less prone to breakage while soothing the itchiness. The high levels of protein and Vitamin E present in this magic oil can improve the shine and strength of your hair.

Adding tea tree oil to the mix can make this mask an ultimate potion for your itchy and flaky scalp as it can moisturize and nourish the scalp and help in preventing buildup of any chemical-laden products you have been using.

  • Take 1/4th cup of apple cider vinegar in a bowl.
  • Then, add 1 cup of almond oil to the bowl
  • Add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil or you can also add peppermint oil.
  • Mix all the ingredients well.
  • Then, massage the vinegar-oil mixture into your scalp in circular motion.
  • Leave the mask on for about 15 minutes and then, rinse it off with lukewarm water.
  • To achieve the desired results, apply this DIY hair mask twice a week.
