Liger: Vijay Deverakonda & Ananya Panday Starrer Saved By Sunday From A Flat Saturday

Liger- The Crossbreed, the bilingual film starring Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda and Hindi actor Ananya Panday, had an average opening day on August 26, 2022. The film opened in the South on August 25 and a little late the next day in Hindi.\

Liger- The Crossbreed managed to collect around Rs 1.25 crore nett on paid reviews and 4.50 crore nett, as per Box Office India. While it did reasonably well in the Telugu markets which is its niche.

The Box Office India said the film is actually a ‘crossbreed’ as it neither looks like a “real Telugu film nor a Hindi”. Hence, the Telugu market might feel like it is a Hindi and the Hindi belt might look at it as a Telugu film.

On its second day, August 27, Liger- The Crossbreed fell flat with a box office collection of Rs 4.25 crore nett taking its total to Rs 10 crore including paid reviews. While Saturday was expected to drop even down, its evening collection saved it. The film was also expected to see a bad day on Sunday because of the India vs Pakistan cricket match scheduled on the evening of August 28. As per trade analysts, the film is on its way to a weekend collection of Rs 12 crore with a marginal drop on Sunday due to the match

The makers of the film, Dharma Productions, took to social media and shared that the film had a worldwide collection of Rs 33.12 crores gross.

Liger-The Crossbreed was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages. Liger is directed by Puri Jagannadh and co-produced by Karan Johar and Charmme Kaur under the banner of Dharma productions. Deverakonda plays the role of an MMA fighter boxer in the upcoming film, who struggles with stammering. The film narrates the story of a chaiwala (a tea seller), who dedicates his life to represent India and win the title of MMA champion. The film also stars Ronit Roy in a pivotal role. Panday plays the role of Liger’s love interest in the film. Hence the film marks Deverakonda’s debut in Hindi cinema, Panday’s debut in Telugu cinema and American boxer Mike Tyson’s cameo appearance marks his debut in Indian cinema.
