Kumbha Sankranti Story

According to the legend of Kumbha Sankranti, there was a Brahmin in ancient times named Haridas who was very religious and kind in nature. His wife’s name was Gunavati. She was religious in nature and never disrespect anyone. She always worshipped all the gods but forgot to worship Dharamraja and never did any charity or virtue.

When Chitragupta was going through her accounts, he told her about this mistake that she had committed unknowingly.  Said that she did it unknowingly and asked for a way to rectify it. Then Dharamraja said that when Sun God leaves on Uttarayan, then start worshipping him from the day of Kumbha Sankranti itself. Continue worshipping him for the whole year. Any person who does this will be free from all his sins.
