If you are a gold jewellery addict, you have landed on just the right page. When was the last time you opened those jewellery boxes and cleaned your dearest jewels? If you wear gold jewellery regularly, when did you last take it off and give it a quick clean? Gold loses its shine over time and needs cleaning at short intervals. If you don't wish to spend those extra bucks on professional cleaning, we have a guide for you.
We spoke to a jewellery expert at Reliance Jewels and asked them to share tips to clean gold jewellery at home. She said, "Gold jewellery is a timeless investment that deserves to be treasured and cared for. To keep your gold jewellery looking as good as new, it is essential to clean it regularly.”
“We recommend storing your gold jewellery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or heat. With the right care, your gold jewellery will continue to shine bright for years to come and preserve its beauty and value for generations to come,” she added.
Warm Water And Dish Soap
Avoid exposing your gold jewellery to harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can scratch or damage the surface of your jewellery. The expert recommended using a solution of warm water and dish soap to clean gold jewellery. Use a soft-bristled brush to remove any dirt or grime, and then rinse the jewellery thoroughly with water.
Use Boiling Water

This is another easy way to clean your gold jewellery, however, it won't work for pieces with delicate gemstones like pearls, and emeralds as there are chances that they might crack under boiling water. If you have jewellery made entirely out of gold then you can clean them under boiling water. Place your jewellery in a bowl. Bring water to a boil and pour the water over the jewellery. Make sure all your jewellery is completely submerged. Wait for the water to cool. Take out the jewellery, dab it with a soft towel, and let it naturally dry.
Try Toothpaste Method
If your jewellery requires deep cleaning, try this toothpaste method. On a soft brush, apply some toothpaste and gently scrub off any dirt on your jewellery. Once done, wipe the jewellery with a soft cloth. (toothpaste cleaning hacks)
