Bad odour in a kitchen can be a huge turn off not just for your guests but for the people who cook in the house as well. It also reflects on your hygiene. The immediate idea that comes to mind is using a candle but what if you do not have a scented one at home? Instead of spending money on one, you can always try these seriously easy hacks utilising kitchen ingredients as well. So here are some hacks that can make your cooking place smell good and make you feel comfortable as well.
Keep Your Stove Clean
Many people have this habit of not wiping the kitchen stove clean every night after all the cooking is done and that too with a clean cloth. This adds to the bad odour we are talking about. So once you are done, just wipe off the entire stove and then the platform every night.
Clean your kitchen cabinets everyday or every consecutive day so that your kitchen does not smell bad. The fallen food or even dried water or that milk you spilt just adds to the smell that has been irking your nose. Take a clean cloth and do the needful as often as you can.
Lemons In The Bin
If you think your garbage disposal is emitting that disgusting smell then one easy trick is to cut some lemon wedges and feed them to the disposal. It will overshadow all that smell and give a lemon scent.
Homemade Room Freshener
Make your own room freshener and store it in a bottle with a spray head. Spritz it all around before the guests come or when you feel there is some pungent smell in the air. Mix together some water, calming and soothing essential oil drops or aromatherapy oil drops like that of lemon or lemongrass or flower you like but I recommend citrusy fragrances as they are perfect in a kitchen.
This trick comes in handy when you have cooked fish or some dish which has a strong odour and can be overwhelming. Just boil some water in a pan with 2-3 tablespoons of vinegar. Boil for seven minutes and let the steam spread out. This will help in neutralising the smell.
This one is my favourite as it makes my kitchen smell divine. This is like making your own potpourri which is cheaper and convenient. In a saucepan, boil water, with some oranges or lemon slices and mint and simmer on the stove for as long as you wish. This does not just stay in the kitchen but also roams the house and it really does calm your senses. You could also boil together some cinnamon, cloves and apple slices for that autumn fragrance.
You have to do nothing but just source some eucalyptus leaves and put them in a vase in your kitchen. The pleasant smell will spread everywhere and not just stick to the bathroom. It works like a deodoriser for the house in a way.
