Bharti Jaffery, Daughter Of Legendary Actor Ashok Kumar, Passes Away

Actor Bharti Jaffrey, daughter of legendary thespian Ashok Kumar, passed away on Tuesday after a prolonged illness. Bharti Jaffrey was born in Mumbai. Though she had great influence from Bollywood personalities in her life, still her career in this industry was not prolific.

Filmmaker Nandita Das confirmed the news to ETimes, "Bharti Jaffrey was a vivacious and warm person and everyone will miss this affection and warmth. Though Anuradha (Patel) and Kanwaljit (Singh) are family friends, Bharti di endeared us to her with her thoughtful gestures. She never forgot to wish me every birthday. Or pick up a souvenir from her trips. I will miss her very much. And not forgetting she was an extremely talented actress."

Actor Kanwaljit Singh also shared some group pictures with her on his Instagram (Instagram Enables Shopping Via Chats; Know About Instagram's New Payment Feature) handle with a caption, “Our beloved *Bharat jaffrey*, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Neighbour, Friend, and inspiration has departed us today 20 Sep. We will bring her home at 1.30 pm today for her final goodbye at 403 Ashok Kumar Towers, 47 Union Park, Chembur 71, and thereafter cremate her at Cherai Crematorium, Chembur Camp. ।।ओम शान्ती।।”

Jaffrey did some notable acting in films and TV shows like Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa (1998), Saans (1999), and Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence (2001). She married Hamid Jaffrey, brother of actor Saeed Jaffrey. Anuradha Patel is her daughter and Rupa Verma, Preeti Ganguly, and Aroop Ganguly are her siblings. Jaffrey’s father Ashok Kumar, aka Dadamoni, was a well-known actor in Hindi cinema, who gave many hits over decades and ruled the industry along with his brothers, Anoop Kumar and Kishore Kumar. Apart from acting in films, Ashok Kumar also directed many films. Bollywood actors Kajol and Rani Mukerji are her nieces and filmmaker Ayan Mukerji is her nephew.
