Is Virat Kohli's One8 Commune Worth The Hype? Here's A Detailed Food Review

Who hasn't heard of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli's resto-bar chain? Pictures and videos of the swanky outlets across the country are all over the gram. This time, I thought of exploring this much-hyped eatery to know if I was really missing out. Last weekend, I was at One8 Commune, Aerocity, and here is my detailed review with all that you would want to know, right from the menu to the pricing to the ambiance of the place.

From a Sushi, and baos to small bites to pastas and pizzas to a traditional North Indian main course to a range of desserts, One8 Commune's menu is impressive.

One8 Commune - The Ambience

I visited One8 Commune at the Aerocity and it is divided into an indoor and outdoor space. Dotted with greens, I walked in through the outdoor seating area into the indoors with contemporary lighting. One8 Commune owner Virat Kohli's blue jersey and a big autographed signature neon board are the highlights of the space. You'll spot a lot of Kohli fans clicking selfies here (I had to wait a little but finally got some clicks!)

One8 Commune - My Experience

I was already in love with the ambiance as I walked in. On checking the menu, I got to know that there are some special dishes parked under Virat Kohli's favourites on the menu. On speaking to the chef, I got to know that this section was a favourite among his fans and King Kohli likes relishing these whenever he visits the outlet. From his favourite's I ordered the Tartar Topped on Avocado and Mushroom Googly Dim Sums. Both appetisers were a hit for me. Tartar Topped On Avocado had a layer of crispy corn, sriracha, and scallion topped with fresh avocado slices and the googly dim sums had assorted wild mushrooms, cream cheese, vegetarian broth, and truffle oil, delicious, melt-in-the-mouth.

From the beverage menu, I ordered a glass of berry smoothie and wine. The restaurant currently has a new bao menu and I gave the tofu bao a try. Super soft boas layered with tofu chunks, veggies, and sauce. Flavourful and filling! Next on was the classic mac and cheese, again, didn't disappoint! For the main course, I went for the gourmet veg matki, it was loaded with vegetables cooked in a flavourful onion and tomato chop masala with butter roti.

Next was time for my favourite part of the meal, the desserts. I had heard a lot about the Five River Mud Cake and it was truly worth the hype. A decadent layered chocolate mud cake and chocolate mousse. Also, tried the hot-seller Churros topped with cinnamon sugar and served with melted chocolate ganache, so good!

Verdict

Wondering where to head for dinner this weekend? Head to One8 Commune without a doubt! This one is just the perfect place to dine out with friends and family. The menu is great, there is something for everyone. The music is lovely, there are days when you get to enjoy live music. Price-wise too, it isn't a bad deal at all!
