The duo took to their social media accounts and shared throwback pics from different years. They wrote: "Royalty of Indian Cinema! Shabana Azmi glimmered in Chikankari by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla for the cover of Femina Magazine in 1995. Held shortly after the duo’s Delhi exhibition, each detail of the photo session oozed luxury to the core. Cushion covers in rich, burgundy velvet with Zardozi motifs and gold velvet curtains provided the backdrop, while Shabana’s lavish ensembles included hand embroidery, pure materials, delicate patterns and a real gold border.
“We wanted to depict her as a Maharani and the response was incredible! Chikan went on to become high fashion, it went on to make appearances at the red carpet and as bridal wear. Unfortunately, our work was relentlessly imitated, so we started exploring new avenues. We always try to be one step ahead. We’re ever ready to embrace a new standard.” - Abu & Sandeep
"1994: A goddess in all her glory! Clicked in 1994, here’s Dimple Kapadia wearing the iconic first collection of Chikankari by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla," the post read.
They continued: "2006: Treasure made of threads! Amrita Singh and Sara Ali Khan appear ravishing in ‘Rabadi’ for Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s India Fantastique. Their ensembles feature a beautiful blend of geometric and abstract khakas in multicoloured appliques. Swipe to see more of the duo’s innovative artistry with threadwork featuring mosaic embroidery and pure Resham Aari chain stitches.
"2004: More of Zardozi, yet never enough! Dimple Kapadia with her daughters Twinkle and Rinke as seen in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla's India Fantastique.
"A true goddess in black and gold, Dimple is wearing a Khadi saree illuminated by the golden finesse of Zardozi work. Twinkle glimmers in an anarkali set on brocade with multiple Zardozi borders featuring gold and silver details, and Rinke stuns in a lavishly embroidered ghagra that beautifully complements her mother's and sister's ensembles.
"The next image features a garment that indulgently celebrates every stitch that is used in creating Zardozi inspired couture. Stones and sequins lend an added shine to its exquisiteness. The final one shows a cutwork ghagra that has Zardozi set on an entire backdrop of lace. Its effect is delicate, divine and decadent all at once," they added.

Talking about the topmost picture, they wrote: "Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Brett Lee set the ramp ablaze in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla! For the finale of Delhi Couture Week, the duo showcased a collection titled 'Almost 24' in honour of their spectacular presence in the fashion world. The line had a fantastic fusion of Indian and western silhouettes that celebrated their work with all its maximal glory.
"Shweta dazzled in their iconic Lotus motif ensemble that created the impression of the flower blooming on flesh, and Brett Lee made a dapper sight in a beige dhoti paired with a sublime, white kurta worn under an embroidered coat," it read.
"Speaking of the collection, Abu Sandeep reveal - "This is 21st Century India in all her myriad glory. There's all the tehzeeb of the past tinged with a tongue in cheek nonchalance. For the first time, we have tried to be experimental, funky and avant-garde with a new concept. We thought it would be fun and the response has been good. Its timeless elegance meets here and now, in your face, rock-chic glamour."
"Varun Dhawan emanates utmost finesse in a delicately embroidered jaali kurta featuring superior details created in resham Zardozi and shadow stitches. The richly crafted silhouette is finished with intricate, Zardozi borders.
"The other ensembles too, reveal magnificent odes to the art of applique. Their geometric patterns and jaali details come alive with silk and gota materials on semi-transparent or opaque fabrics.
"On the ensemble that Aishwarya flaunted at the Cannes, they wrote: "Through the decades the duo have excelled at reinventing the use of crystals, stones and beads creating bejewelled dreams in the form of couture. Here's looking back at that brilliance. The Aubusson gown complements her staggering beauty with tiny pastel Swarovski crystals embroidered with resham. Pearls add to the garment's grandeur," the added.
Now came the epic moment. "2012: This event was quite simply the most magical celebration of their creativity, packed with the powerful presence of India’s icons from Industry, Society and Cinema. The duo’s most cherished took to the stage, dressed in sumptuous, custom ensembles. Abu and Sandeep count them as close friends.
“Our work has brought us immense professional and personal joy. It has enabled us to dress the most fabulous women and men. People who have become friends and even family. We treasure them and their faith in us as artists. To have them with us on this occasion was heavenly. A deeply emotional experience.” - Abu and Sandeep
For this event the duo dressed Nita and Mukesh Ambani, Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Amrita Singh, Tabu, Gauri Khan and Sussanne Khan in their hallmark ranges. Each wore an ensemble which showcased their mastery over technique, craftsmanship and design at its zenith. From Resham and Zardozi to Mirror work, Gota and Patola, it was a dizzying array of beauty."
"2000: Contributing with style! Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla created a ‘Fashion Theatre’ experience called “A Celebration of Style” to establish a fund for women and children affected by HIV and AIDS. The show was named in honour of Abu Sandeep’s debut book launch of the same title.
“We wanted to talk about our work over the years and that’s how the idea of the book came along. We had collected hundreds of photographs of our designs and spent our initial efforts recreating some of our lost work. To publish was unaffordable at the time, but we are always ones to take big risks. In spite of not having a sponsor, we booked Famous Studios in Mumbai and got Bijon Dasgupta to design a set.
We were immensely grateful for our success and along with publishing the book, we were eager to do something for charity. The cause has always been close to our hearts and soon we found the most charming Sara D'mello who runs Ashray – a home dedicated to the welfare of HIV and AIDS affected women and children.”
Held over two days, the event raised over 70 lakhs for Ashray and saw the book’s memorable launch by Jaya Bachchan and Dimple Kapadia.
"2000: Amitabh Bachchan dazzles in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla sherwani for a spectacular ‘Fashion Theatre’ presentation at Mumbai’s Famous Studios.
An avid supporter of the duo’s work, Mr. Bachchan endearingly refers to them as ‘The Boys’ and says that “they have astonished me with the sheer genius of their creative art, not just in the field of design in clothing but in various other related and non-related creative acts.” This image is from the event held in 2000 that raised funds for charity and marked the launch of the duo’s debut book “A Celebration of Style”.
Here we speak of The Shah Rukh Khan, who radiates matchless panache in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla's India Fantastique! "Clicked by Ram Shergill in 2011, he is wearing a pure georgette transparent shirt on which resham and beads dance on black lace embroidery. More men's silhouettes follow reflecting the ethereal extravagance of Abu Sandeep's artistic sensibilities," read the post.
Now the one we kept for the last is Salman Khan, whom we rarely see in designer wear posts. Talking about this Khan, they wrote: "2004 - The Threads of Majesty! The ancient craft of Zardozi finds fabulous expression in Abu Sandeep's menswear. It features extensively in their collections in diverse forms and silhouettes.
"Salman Khan exudes staggering swagger in a bolero jacket, which boasts multiple zardozi stitches, Baadla Kasab and French knots accented with sequins in bold fleur de Lys motifs.
"The other two photographs show mesmerisingly detailed borders in Zardozi and an all-over zardozi kurta," the ended.
