The 900 km serpentine river that runs across Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, and Mizoram is little known. After connecting the Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers, the Barak river system goes into the Bay of Bengal. Barak is the largest and most important river in Manipur. Adventure activities such as river rafting and kayaking were introduced not long ago.

The Keibul Lamjao National Park is another unique attraction. It is the world's first floating park and the only place where the endangered Sangai deer may be found. It is one of India's rarest deer species because it can only be found in this secluded area. Loktak Lake includes the Keibul Lamjao National Park.

Two of India's 12 biodiversity heritage sites are located in the northeast. Majuli in Assam and Dailong in Manipur's Tamenglong district. It gained attention after it was discovered that the rare and endangered Indian wild orange - the world's most primal ancestor to all cultivated citrus fruits – was found in the forest of Dailong town.

Shirui Hills, in the Ukhrul district, rise to a height of 2835 metres above sea level. It is a great site to visit due to the cold chilly weather. The Shirui Lily blooms in May and June, and you can view them if you visit Shirui during those months. This lily species is unique in that it can only be found in Shirui Hills and nowhere else.

A forest can be sacred for a variety of reasons, some of which are tied to folklore and others which are practical. It's also worth noting that the bulk of Manipur's indigenous groups eats a fairly nutritious diet based on produce harvested responsibly from these woods. One such sacred woodland surrounded by nature is the well-known Raengan in the Tamenglong district. Hiking, bird viewing, and sightseeing are all popular activities in this area.
