Summers are here, and we can hardly step out of an air-conditioned room. It feels cool and comfortable to stay inside than go out and get roasted in the scorching heat. However, do you know that your air conditioner is causing you more harm than good? Well! Take a look!

How Does An Air Conditioner Harm Skin?

air conditioner at home

When you switch on the AC, it starts to bring down the temperature of the room. How does it do that? It absorbs the moisture in the room and makes it arid just like the deserts of Rajasthan.

An air conditioner not only sucks the moisture in the air but also soaks up the hydration of our skin and hair. Hence, you must have observed that the longer you stay in an air-conditioned room, your skin feels drier and stretched.

It is particularly harmful to people who are already struggling with dry skin. AC makes skin flaky, itchy and irritated sometimes. The appliance elevates the skin disorders associated with dry skin.

We all know that water is essential for our bodies, and when the air inside the room gets robbed of hydrating molecules the topmost dermal layer becomes flaky. It cannot find a replacement and gets constantly deprived of water. As a result, your skin starts to experience wrinkles and creases.

Another issue with sitting in AC for a long time is that you walk out in the blazing sun. It causes stress to your skin, and it starts to degenerate. Other factors like pollution, dirt particles and dust further deteriorate the condition.

Emollients in the oil fill the cracks of the skin and help it become smooth and soft. Coconut also contains fatty acids in their natural state. They maintain the hydration level of the skin. People with sensitive skin can use coconut oil without worrying about any side effects.
