Glam eyes are back, ruling the wedding beauty book. Post COVID, now that people are no longer adhering to muhurats, weddings take place all year long and we have to work harder on our makeup strategies. Our favourite Bollywood divas are taking the glitz route with their eye makeup this season and looks like the mood board for the upcoming celebrations is set. My inbox is filling in with wedding invites and I thought why not experiment with my eye makeup this time and follow the biggest trend of the moment? So, I signed up for an online makeup workshop by makeup artist Ningla Dheer where I learned to ace the smokey glam cocktail look.
I was surprised to know that getting the glam eye look was hassle-free and required just a few products.
Getting The Glam Eye Makeup Look
Makeup Products Required
- Primer
- Concealer
- Kajal
- Black Eyeshadow
- Liquid/Dry Glitter
Step-By-Step Guide
Set The Base With Primer Or Strobe Cream
Begin with using a primer or a strobe cream on your eyelids. Ningla Dheer during the workshop shared that this method gives you a good base for all other eye products. Take the product quantity as required and dab it on your eyelids. Strobe cream can be used if you don’t have a primer as these brighten up your base and also function as a primer to hold the makeup for long.

Conceal Your Eyelids
You shouldn't miss concealing your eyelids as this step helps you give a clear base for your eye makeup. Also, it helps you cover any pigmentation spots on your eyelids. The expert said concealer should also be used to cover the under-eye area since it instantly brightens up the face. Remember, less is more when it comes to concealer. Use your fingers or a damp beauty blender to dab in the product.
Blend In Some Kohl
Draw a thick, uneven line using a kajal on your upper eyelids. Make sure you don't apply it on the crease. Start blending the kajal downwards with a flat brush. Ningla Dheer said that one can use a gel eyeliner or crayon kajal to do the smokey eye base since it is easier to blend.
Dab In Some Eyeshadow
Next, to darken the base, dab some black eyeshadow on your eyelids. The expert suggested patting the eyeshadow rather than dragging it over the eyes. Once the smokey base is done, use a brown eyeshadow on the upper crease of your eyes. Gently blend in the colour in circular motions.
Line Your Upper Lash Line With Kajal
After setting the shadow base, line your upper lash line with kohl. You can draw a thick or thin line as per your preference.

Time For Some Glitter
Lastly, use some glitter for that glam effect. You can use liquid glitter in a shade of your choice. You can also use dry glitter. While the liquid glitter can be easily swiped over your eyelids, you will need to use glitter glue for dry shimmer so that it stays for longer.
Other Tips
- Wash your face with a cleanser that suits your skin type before you start doing your makeup.
- Apply a generous amount of moisturiser on your face and don't miss covering your eyelids.
- Once you are done with your eye makeup, use a wet tissue to clean the fallout.
