None of us is blessed with flawless hair. We all suffer from some hair woe or the other. Dry and flaky scalp is one among the most common hair issues we women face. Those white flakes aren't just embarrassing but unhealthy for our hair health too. They are usually caused by a fungal growth that leads to itching on your scalp. Furthermore, this issue leads to hair fall and hair breakage among others.

We spoke to Beauty Expert, Shahnaz Husain about this common hair problem and she shared that dry flakes appear on the scalp when there is lack of moisture in the air or on the scalp. She further shared some home remedies for flaky, dry scalp.

Hot Oil Therapy

The expert shared that hot oil therapy is a useful treatment to prevent and control flaky scalp. Oiling helps in relieving dryness of the scalp and also prevents clogging of the pores on the scalp. For this, you can use olive oil. Heat olive oil and apply it on your scalp using cotton wool. Rub gently and this will help remove the flakes. Dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water and then wrap this towel around your head like a turban. Keep this on for five minutes. Repeat using the hot towel wrap three to four times. This will help the hair absorb into the scalp better. Leave the oil overnight. Next morning, apply lemon juice on your scalp and then wash your hair after 30 minutes. Hot oil therapy can be done once or twice a week.

Apple Cider Vinegar Before Shampoo

Beauty expert Shahnaz Husain shared that those suffering from dry, flaky scalp should wash their hair two to three times a week. Before using a mild herbal shampoo, you should apply two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar on their scalp and massage it lightly. After shampoo, you should use a vinegar rinse as the last rinse. To make this mix two tablespoons of vinegar with a mug of water.

Fenugreek Seeds Rinse

Grind one tablespoon methi seeds into a coarse powder and soak it in two cups of cold water. Keep it overnight and strain it. Use it as the last rinse after shampooing your hair.
