Twitter's iconic blue bird is gone. One of the most loved social media networking sites, Twitter has now been rebranded to X, a redefined version of the site. Elon Musk made a surprise announcement around the rebranding on his handle this weekend. His first tweet read, "And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds." Next, Musk revealed the new Twitter logo, X.
Twitter’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino confirmed the rebranding with a tweet. Her tweet read, "It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square."
The rebranding has been done to transform the micro-blogging site into an everything app model, something like China's WeChat, a messaging app that allows users to do everything in a few clicks, right from making payments to booking hotels. While launching X.com, Elon Musk said, “You basically live on WeChat in China. If we can recreate that with Twitter, we’ll be a great success.”
