With lockdown around the country, Indian weddings have transformed into more intimate affairs for the wedding family. While some families have taken up virtual/zoom weddings quite well, some still want to have a more personal affair with family members at home. Here are a few tips by Prerana Saxena wedding planner and Designer, Founder of Theme Weaver which would be helpful to plan a wedding at home
Use The Space Well
You may have limited space at home but planning in detail will ensure you are able to utilize it effectively. An important tip will be to create separate spaces for various events such as entry, food, drinks and events. Modify seating in each area to create space.
Use Creative Décor
Utilize various décor elements for different events. Décor elements will not only create a celebratory mood but will also provide differentiation across different areas of your home. You can use toran or floral arches to decorate the main entrance. Floral centerpieces can brighten up the vibrancy of the area. And can also be used in the food and drinks section. You can also use fun signage for home decor which add fun quotient for the wedding.

Create a more intimate and personalized space using photographs. Style using flowers, drapes and candles for an elegant and classy ambiance. For the couple seating, you can have floral wreaths or a sundowner seating area for your engagement ceremonies!

Use vibrant colours with flowers for a mehendi function. Marigolds are great for a colourful ambiance. You can use other easily available décor elements such as dream-catchers, crafted bottles, a string of memories, crafted candles, etc. You can use bright details such as gota, pompoms and colourful cushions to give a vibrant touch. Use fresh flowers for centerpieces to lift-up the mood of the event.
You can alter the seating arrangements in the form of traditional diwans and mudis, bright single-seater coloured chairs, and selfie points customised to reflect the theme of the function.

Keep finer details in mind but still focus on celebrations. Use your family room creatively to reflect a theme the bride and groom connect with. You could transform the space into a garden or a rustic space. You can use sparkling fairy lights and chandeliers to transform the house into a well-lit space that exudes magical vibes. Rangolis are also a tradition in Indian weddings. You can play with colors to make an artful rangoli at your favourite corners of the house.
For your own safety, keep the wedding guest list as small as you can. Stay tuned to HerZindagi for more tips for this COVID 19 wedding season.
